Workshop Presentation Guidelines
The Ad Astra Summit Planning Committee will work with each presenter before the conference to make sure familiarity with the in-person conference platform needs are met.
1. Planning Your Workshop
- Tailor your content to the needs of your audience.
- Define clear learning objectives: Write 2–4 specific outcomes (e.g., “By the end of the session, participants will be able to identify 3 strategies for…”).
2. Structuring the Presentation
Introduction:
- Welcome participants.
- Provide context: Why is this topic important?
- Outline goals and agenda.
Core Content:
- Present 2–3 main themes or strategies.
- Use real-world examples or case studies.
- Incorporate interactive elements (polls, group discussions, exercises).
Application / Practice:
- Small group work, breakout tasks, or role-play.
- Provide guiding questions or worksheets.
Wrap-Up:
- Summarize key takeaways.
- Link back to learning objectives.
- Provide resources for further reading.
- Leave space for Q&A.
3. Designing Materials
- Slides & visuals: Keep text minimal; use images, charts, and bullet points. Ensure readability (large fonts, high-contrast colors).
- Handouts / digital resources: Summaries, links, templates, or space for notes.
4. Delivery Techniques
- Engagement: Ask questions early, encourage participation, use storytelling.
- Timing: Practice to fit within the allotted session length (50 minutes), leave buffer for Q&A.
- Facilitation: Be flexible, manage group dynamics to ensure all voices are heard.
5. Follow-Up & Networking
- Share slides or recordings if allowed.
- Provide contact info for future collaboration.
- Encourage participants to continue the conversation via LinkedIn or conference platform.
