Biography
Verónica Ryan is an experienced educational leader with more than 20 years of expertise in curriculum development, literacy instruction, multilingual learner support, and instructional leadership. She currently serves as Assistant Principal of Humanities at Elgin High School in School District U-46 (Elgin, IL), where she oversees Dual Language Programming, English Language Arts, ESL, Fine Arts, and library programming. Passionate about disrupting systems that do not work for all children, she is deeply committed to ensuring every student has equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities, supportive environments, and rigorous instruction. Throughout her career, she has led districtwide literacy initiatives, developed equitable instructional practices, and supported student achievement across diverse learning communities.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs.Ryan was recognized by Language Magazine for maximizing literacy opportunities for English Learners and was invited to contribute to the publication, sharing her leadership journey as a district-level literacy coordinator. She also serves as an Associate Professor at Judson University, preparing future educators in secondary methods and curriculum design.
She earned a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from National Louis University, a Master of Arts in Teaching in Reading from Rockford College, and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Rockford College.
