Biography
Dr. Rachel Adeodu is a faculty member and the coordinator of the Early Childhood Education program in the Teacher Education Department at Northeastern Illinois University where she teaches courses in the field of Early Childhood Education. She also served as the chair of the Department for five years, leading the department through the pandemic and the transition to online teaching and learning. Rachel received her Ph.D. in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood concentration from the University of Alberta, Alberta, Canada, her M. Ed in Educational Administration from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and her B.A. Education in English Language Arts from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria. She is a former kindergarten and second grade teacher, and her areas of expertise include early childhood reading methods, curriculum and instruction, and home-school-community relationships. Her current work focuses on the politics of language acquisition in young children in the Global South and Gen Z and Millennial learning preferences in early childhood pre-service teacher education.
